Power Button - Episode 184: Wait For It...

Power ButtonSometimes it seems that for any given year that most of the highly anticipated titles of the year become the highly anticipated titles of next year.  Video games originally slated to release in 2015 such as Star Fox Zero, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and The Legend of Zelda for Wii U have all been unceremoniously bumped into 2016.  On this episode of Power Button, we discuss these delays and how they impact both the market and the audience.  We also look into the crystal ball and predict which other upcoming games are destined to release later than expected.  Download this week's episode directly from PTB, listen with the player below, find us on Stitcher, subscribe via iTunes, toss this RSS feed into your podcast aggregation software of choice, and be sure to catch up on past episodes if you're joining us late. The One True Biff Tannen Returns For PS4/X1 Back To The Future

Biff TannenI told you about Telltale Games re-releasing its Back To The Future: The Game next month, this time bringing the adventure game featuring the voices of Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown and AJ LoCascio as Marty McFly to the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One, but there's a new addition to the 2010 game: the original Biff Tannen himself (and Griff Tannen and Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen), Thomas F. Wilson, has recorded dialog for all of the Tannen clan in the game.  His performance replaces the original version's Tannen actor, Kid Beyond.  Here's Back To The Future co-creator/producer/writer Bob Gale announcing the news on the Beyond The Marquee show:

I'm impressed that Telltale was able to bring Wilson onboard considering that production on the game wrapped years ago and many people thought this new release was just a standard port to new platforms.  Plus, Wilson has distanced himself from the Future franchise over the years to focus on his other performance talents, so it's fantastic to see him back as the Tannens.  You can't have a Back To The Future production without the one true Biff.  It looks like I'll be triple-dipping on this game after all.

Power Button - Episode 183: Let's-a Go Play Super Mario Maker

Power ButtonNintendo's Super Mario Maker for the Wii U has been consuming my evenings since it was released earlier this month, so on this week's episode of the Power Button podcast I attempt to sway Blake Grundman into submitting to its majesty, amazing levels and kaizo trash and all.  We talk about what makes for a solid level, elements that just piss everyone off, and much more from the world of the Mushroom Kingdom.  Join us for nearly one hundred minutes of Goomba-stomping, Koopa-kicking fun.  Be sure to play my Mario levels, too!  Download this week's episode directly from PTB, listen with the player below, find us on Stitcher, subscribe via iTunes, toss this RSS feed into your podcast aggregation software of choice, and be sure to catch up on past episodes if you're joining us late. Play My Super Mario Maker Levels

Super Mario MakerI've spent the last week digging into Nintendo's amazing Super Mario Maker for the Wii U.  I've played plenty of levels from the community, finished all of the included levels in the 10 Mario Challenge, unlocked the secret Nintendo World Championship levels, and opened up some of the hidden items for the level editor.  And speaking of the level editor, I've created a dozen levels featuring a variety of enemies, puzzles, and gimmicks.  Try them all!  I have a Pac-Man maze for you, a tribute to Monty Mole, an airship with a surprise ending, a castle stage with a branching path through optional mini-boss encounters, a brush with the Weird Mushroom, ghosts with boots, and so much more.  Play the levels and let me know what you think of them.  Not to get all "subscribe to my channel" on you, but award in-game stars if you like what you see.  The more stars I earn, the more levels the game will allow me to share online.  Now, let's-a go!  For more on Super Mario Maker, don't miss the upcoming Episode 183 of the Power Button podcast.

Power Button - Episode 182: Here Come The Games!

Power ButtonWe're heading into the time of year when video game publishers unleash their holiday releases in an overwhelming glut of content.  With only so many hours in a day and so much money in our wallets, Blake Grundman and I set out to make the hard calls and discuss which of the remaining games of 2015 have our attention and, in some cases, our preorders.  How much time will Just Cause 3 consume?  Will Destiny: The Taken King take all?  Do we expect Yoshi's Woolly World to string us along?  Who will sing the praises of Rock Band 4?  Join us for an hour for answers to these questions and much more.  Download this week's episode directly from PTB, listen with the player below, find us on Stitcher, subscribe via iTunes, toss this RSS feed into your podcast aggregation software of choice, and be sure to catch up on past episodes if you're joining us late. Remember that you can reach us via , you can leave a message on the Power Button hotline by calling (720) 722-2781, and you can even follow us on Twitter at @PressTheButtons and @GrundyTheMan, or for just podcast updates, @ThePowerButton.

Mega Man's Robot Rush

I'm still hooked on the Mega Man Legacy Collection compilation of the first six classic Mega Man titles from the Nintendo Entertainment System era, particularly the challenge mode.  In addition to remixed snippets of the original games, some of the challenges send players on a marathon rampage through each game's Robot Master legion (and a grand finale battle where players face all forty-six bosses one after the next). Watch as I plow through the original Mega Man's six Robot Masters in this clip. Yes, I abuse the famous pause trick.

Let's Play Even More Pinball Arcade

CaptureLong-time PTB fan Erik Olson recently gifted me with a collection of new tables for Pinball Arcade which means that not only do I have some new challenges to learn, but you have some new videos to watch.  Today's batch includes Diner, Whitewater, Who Dunnit?, and High Roller Casino.  I'm especially proud of my performance on Who Dunnit? which, while I didn't beat the all-time top score, I did manage to score more than a billion points.  It's a shame that developer Farsight Studios reached the maximum allocation of trophies on the PlayStation platform and can no longer add new challenges for tables released after Season 2's allotment of tables.  I would clean up on earning new trophies had there been any for tables like these.

Take The Mega Man 6 Remix Challenge

Here's another look at a piece of the Challenge Mode from the recently released Mega Man Legacy Collection.  This is a short snippet compared to the last time I showed you how the compilation slices up parts of the classic six Nintendo Entertainment System titles into bite sized objectives.  Have a look at the Remix 1 challenge from Mega Man 6.  It's not a perfect performance, but is it enough to earn a gold medal?  Watch and find out.
