New Super Mario Bros. 2 Trailer Shows Off More Coins
July 13, 2012
Nintendo's upcoming New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the 3DS is just about a month away from release, so the marketing efforts are ramping up. The latest tease comes in the form of a new trailer that shows off the game's many many coins. As you'll recall, players are tasked with collecting one million of the sparkling golden beauties. The payoff is still a secret, but there's supposedly something worthwhile waiting at the end of the quest. Also on display is the White Tanooki Suit that springs from Assist Blocks if one fails a level too many times in a row. The suit grants amazing invincibility, but prevents players from earning a full ranking on a save file (similar to other slaps on the wrist for using assistance as seen in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario 3D Land). The Mega Mushroom is back as is the Mini Mushroom, and there are lots of other surprises ahead. I can't wait to play this one, but since we're talking about a Super Mario game here, I bet you already knew that. New Super Mario Bros. 2 hits both retail stores and the digital eShop on August 19 in North America.
