Nintendo announced a mysterious compilation of Kirby titles a while back to mark the twentieth anniversary of Kirby's Dream Land, and now we have a list of the games that will be included in the set. Coming this September to the Wii, Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition boasts six classic Kirby titles spanning from the Game Boy classic up through the Nintendo 64 era. Here's the list courtesy of Siliconera:
- Kirby’s Dream Land (Game Boy)
- Kirby’s Adventure (NES)
- Kirby’s Dream Land 2 (Game Boy)
- Kirby Super Star (SNES)
- Kirby’s Dream Land 3 (SNES)
- Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64)
Hopefully this collection will be a step up from the lackluster Super Mario All-Stars re-release back in 2010 which had the potential to be quite the milestone but was instead just a Virtual Console release on a disc. While I'm sure that these six Kirby titles will be presented in a similar fashion, there's also talk of a bundled soundtrack, history booklet, and in-game calendar that chronicles Kirby's history. These are all solid games that have aged well, and if you haven't experienced some of the better titles such as Kirby Super Star or Kirby's Dream Land 3, then you can't miss out on this (even if some of the highlights such as Kirby's Adventure and Kirby Super Star have been re-released with improvements over the years as Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland and Kirby Super Star Ultra, neither of which are included here). I'm sure that Dream Collection will be overshadowed by the impending Wii U by the time it releases, but don't make that an excuse for skipping out on some vintage Kirby fun.
