Alleged List Of Nintendo Wii U Launch Titles Surfaces

Nintendo Wii UWhen it comes to learning information before a company wants you to learn it, never discount pure carelessness on the part of a retail business.  Joystiq has a list of supposed launch titles for Nintendo's upcoming Wii U courtesy of your friendly former neighborhood Blockbuster Video (UK division).  The company has supposedly loaded a list of twenty-five Wii U titles due out around launch into its database (including what seem to be a few placeholder titles).  Did they really expect it to remain secret?  Here's the list:

  • Just Dance 4
  • Killer Freaks from Outer Space
  • Marvel Super Heroes
  • Metro: Last Light
  • Monsters Party
  • New Super Mario Brothers Mii
  • Ninja Gaiden 3
  • Rabbids Party Land
  • Pikmin
  • Raving Rabbids
  • Rayman Legends
  • Shield Pose
  • Splinter Cell 6
  • Sports Connection
  • Tekken
  • Your Shape 2013
  • Zombie
  • Aliens: Colonial Marines
  • Batman: Arkham City
  • Assassin's Creed
  • Darksiders 2
  • Dirt 3
  • Formula 1 All Stars
  • Game Party
  • Ghost Recon Online

Noted standouts include New Super Mario Bros. Mii and Pikmin on the first-party front and familiar names like Batman, Rayman, Assassin's Creed, and Darksiders from the world of third-parties.  Now, this list probably isn't complete and definitely hasn't been confirmed as being actual truth, but it's not a bad way to launch new hardware.  Nintendo's titles are always the standouts, so one would expect big things from Mario and Captain Olimar, but I wonder how titles that many people will have already played by the time the Wii U is available (such as Batman: Arkham City) will perform.  What upgrade(s) to Batman's best adventure would justify another purchase and playthrough, for instance?  How will the Wii U's tablet controller improve the Arkham experience?  Assuming there's truth to this list, I suppose we'll just have to wait for E3 to find out.
