Ratchet And Clank Next For PS3 HD Collection Treatment?
March 02, 2012
We've seen plenty of beloved franchises from the Sony PlayStation 2 era make the leap to the PlayStation 3 as part of high definition compilation discs. God of War, Sly Cooper, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Jak and Daxter, and many more have turned up on modern hardware with a graphical makeover, PS3 trophy support, and other small enhancements, but there's still one series that has yet to step up. Now Game Informer has word that this may change. At long last, the original Ratchet and Clank trilogy may be coming to the PS3.
Amazon France has a product listing for Ratchet & Clank HD Collection. It has a release date of May 16, 2012. No other details from the listing were revealed. This doesn't confirm a collection is coming just yet, but history shows it's likely to be true.
Ratchet and Clank is the HD collection that I most want to happen. I shotgunned my way through the original three PS2 titles over the course of about two weeks back in 2006 as I just couldn't get enough of the lombax and his witty robot companion. While that was a fantastic two weeks, the downside is that since I rushed through the series, a lot of it runs together in a blur when I think back on the experience. I'd love the chance to replay the trilogy at a more realistic pace and really take everything in this time. About the only thing from the PS2 titles that I absolutely and completely remember is this song, and I know there's more to the franchise than just that.
