It's been a while since Bill Amend's FoxTrot turned to contemporary gaming, but this week's comic draws inspiration from Valve's Portal series as Jason Fox forces his sister Paige to let him use the family computer to play the game. Amend nailed the portal gun style on this one, although Jason's own homemade cardboard portal device is pretty nifty as well. Comics inspired by Portal have been routine online since Portal 2 debuted in April (heck, even before that, really), but it's satisfying to see a reference to the game in a mainstream Sunday comic strip. FoxTrot has gone to the gaming well before, but I can't help but wonder how many readers were left baffled by this week's strip. Those of us in the know, however, certainly appreciate the reference.
