Archive Of Official Mario Wallpaper Packed With Options

Mario Strikers Charged Back around the turn of the century, Nintendo began to release official desktop wallpaper for its new video games.  Some were free downloads, while others were used an incentives for the company's MyNintendo program (the precursor to the current Club Nintendo) and as prizes for exploring the company's websites for its new titles.  Many of these wallpapers have been lost to time, but The Mushroom Kingdom has put together a massive archive of pretty pictures for most all of the Super Mario titles of the past ten years.  Relive the glory days of Super Mario Advance, Mario vs Donkey Kong, the Classic NES Series release of Dr. Mario, Mario Hoops 3-on-3, Mario Kart 64, Super Paper Mario, and many more.  Many of the files are available in different resolutions to meet the needs of different monitor sizes, and it's especially interesting to note how tiny the resolutions from ten years ago compare to today's monster high definition sizes.  For instance, the images for 2001's Mario Party 3 max out at a mere 800 x 600 (and highly compressed, too), while the recent wallpaper for the twenty-fifth anniversary of Super Mario All-Stars tops out at 1920 x 1200.  The times, they are a-changin'.  Here are a few of my favorites from the archive.

Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga

Yoshi Touch and Go

Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix

Dr. Mario

The Progress of Mario

Super Mario 64 DS

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Super Mario Advance 3
