Rock Band 3 Update Fixes All Kinds Of Problems
February 01, 2011
Despite being sold by its former owner Viacom and having to deal with gloom and doom headlines about how the best days of the music genre are behind it, Rock Band 3 developer Harmonix has been hard at work on an update to the game that fixes all kinds of problems and adds a few tweaks designed to make things better. Keyboard and microphone issues have been addressed, new revisions help to cut back on cheating via rewind, and several other things have been handled in this update that is due out now on the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 (sorry, Nintendo Wii version, but you know the rules when it comes to online updates on your platform). Joystiq has the complete list of fixes and additons, but here is my absolute favorite:
For users experiencing trouble deploying Vocal Overdrive in certain audio setups, OD can now be deployed using the Back button on the controller. NOTE: this only works while in a valid Overdrive deploy section.
Finally! All this time on Rock Band 3 I've been unable to trigger the overdrive while singing vocals, so my scores have been limited to the merely common x4 multiplayer instead of the more awesome x6 or x8. It's been a few weeks since I've played the game, so I think I'm due to return to it. Well, if you don't count the day a few weeks ago when I sang live on stage in front of a cheering audience on a special on-location episode the Press The Buttons show. I couldn't get the overdrive to work then either, come to think of it.
