Rock Band 3 Starts The Fire Next Week With Billy Joel

Billyjoel Alright, gang, it's time to break out those new Rock Band 3 keyboards and free up a little space on your hard drive, as twelve classic Billy Joel songs are headed to the game next week as downloadable content both as individual downloads or together as a set.  I've been hoping and waiting for this day for quite a long time, and although I'm not getting every Billy Joel song that I want (which would be, and let's be honest, just about all of them), we are getting a solid collection of popular tracks that span several of his earlier albums (the most recent song on the list is from 1989).  Here's the list:

  • “Big Shot”
  • “Captain Jack”
  • “It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me”
  • “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song)”
  • “Only the Good Die Young”
  • “Piano Man”
  • “Pressure”
  • “Say Goodbye to Hollywood”
  • “The Entertainer"
  • “The Stranger”
  • “We Didn’t Start the Fire”
  • “You May Be Right”

I have to laugh at "We Didn't Start The Fire"'s inclusion here.  Have you ever seen the piano part for that song?  It's the same few notes hammered over and over again in succession.  I like the song, but it's not exactly one that I'd pick to show off the Rock Band keyboard.  The lyrics, on the other hand?  Vocal performers are going to have fun with rapid-fire parts like "Birth control, Ho Chi Minh, Richard Nixon back again; Moonshot, Woodstock, Watergate, punk rock; Begin, Reagan, Palestine, terror on the airline;
Ayatollolah's in Iran, Russians in Afghanistan".  Still, I can't wait to get my hands on these tracks!
