While the rest of us are guiding Mario to stomp the Koopa Troop, what are the Koopas themselves playing? This three-panel peek at the secret gaming lives of the Koopalings originated in the Super Mario Adventures comic that ran throughout 1992 in Nintendo Power. It's a cute concept of life on the other side of the coin, but I think we should be jealous of the Koopas and their game. Why is it that this Super Koopa adventure sports better character animation than Super Mario Bros.? Note the many different ways that the defeated Marios flail around after being knocked into the air. Whenever I kick a shell into a row of Goombas, not once do they ever react uniquely and individually in such a manner.
