PTB Celebrates 3,000 Entries
July 12, 2010
Press The Buttons has passed another milestone and crossed the 3,000 entries mark, so it's time once again to look back and list a few of my favorite articles from the last set of 500. It's hard to believe that it's only been eight months since we last paused to reflect on previous articles. In that time the Power Button podcast launched, we've been through another E3, the PTB YouTube account sprang to life with plenty of Just Cause 2 videos, and two fantastic Super Mario platformer titles rocked our world. Here's a selection of some of the my favorite entries from this arbitrary time period defined by large round numbers:
- Uncharted 2 Voice Casting Nails Genre Connections (Odo was a Nazi?)
- Beyond Beeps: Plok (This soundtrack demands and creates smiles)
- American Link Is Hardcore (Link gets his own "angry eyebrows")
- Fly Me To The Insomniac Moon (More games need archives of explorable deleted material)
- Fans Ponder, Pitch New Back To The Future Game (Maybe now some of this will come to pass)
- Nudity Restored In North American Link's Awakening (The modest hippo explained once and for all)
- Michael Jackson Worked On Sonic 3 Soundtrack (At last, closure!)
- Celebrate OverClocked Remix's Tenth Anniversary With Ten Stellar Tracks (Here's hoping for ten more years and beyond!)

- Mini-Review: Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth (Includes my video commentary)
- 2010 Wish List Includes Rebooted Vampires, Electric Sheep, Hall & Oates, and Flying Cars (Half a year later, some of these are coming true)
- Sing Along With Saints Row 2 (Maybe Saints Row 3 will include a "The Sun Always Shines On TV" singalong)
- Mini-Review: Mega Man: Official Complete Works and Mini-Review: Mega Man X: Official Complete Works (Two fantastic art books that deserve your attention)
- Stephen Totilo's Gaming Decade Challenge (What was I doing with games during the 2000s?)
- Secret Origins: Mario Is Missing! (In which I learn a valuable lesson)
- The Men Who Play Mario (Why do adults play Super Mario games?)

- Is Final Fantasy XIII Out Yet? and One Of These Legends Is Not Like The Others (Some Amazon.com oddness)
- Bionic Commando Strategy Guide Review At Strategy Guide Love (As the world's only fan of 2009's Bionic Commando, it seems, I'm the only person right for this job)
- Power Button - Episode 2: OverClocked Remix Discussion With Larry Oji And David Lloyd (Time for an origin story!)
- Dante's Inferno Review At Kombo (A change in direction for reviews at Kombo starts here with an analysis of theme and structure)

- Check Out Mega Man's Graphics! and Check Out Sonic The Hedgehog's Graphics! and Check Out Red Dead Redemption's Graphics! (The blue bomber's technical schematics reveal all kinds of hidden functions, while Sonic gains a few new power-ups and Red Dead's protagonist encounters Tim the Bear)
- Introducing The Mega Man Killers (A video history tour of the Robot Masters revived for Mega Man 10)
- Resistance Is Futile Against Star Trek: Borg (Revisit the multimedia Star Trek CD-ROM adventure from the mid-1990s)

- Mainstream Media Calls Fan-Created Image "Worst Video Game Of All-Time" [sic] (This one really grinds my gears)
- Parents Television Council Wants M-Rated Games Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind (I caught the Parents Television Council's attention with this one)
