Capcom's Mega Man Universe Excites And Confuses Everyone

Mega Man Universe Late last week Capcom announced the latest addition to the blue bomber's collection of adventures with Mega Man Universe for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 as a downloadable title, although this game seems to be a little different than past Mega Man adventures.  For one, it's being completely designed and conceived by the character's creator, Keiji Inafune.  Second, it's aiming for our nostalgia bones with plenty of references to past games in the series both obvious and subtle.  And finally... well, just take a look at the trailer.

Yes, it appears that Mega Man Universe crosses Mega Man with other beloved Capcom properties such as Street Fighter and Ghouls 'n' Ghosts.  There's a lot for old-school Mega Man fans to love in that trailer (Prop-Tops!  Mets!  Tellys!  Cut Man!) with a promise of even more crossover elements in come.  The big issue today is that nobody really seems to know what to expect from this game beyond that.  Many are assuming that the trailer is representative of the art style itself, but I'm not so sure about that.  The trailer was created by a team of more than fifty people from i am 8-bit Productions & Buddy System Studios and uses fully-sculpted physical objects for animation instead of digital effects.  I really doubt that we're seeing anything indicative of the final game in action here.  I think it's just a concept announcement and teaser.  Hopefully video or screenshots of the game in action will follow shortly.
