Welcome To The Neighborhood: PS3 Essentials

PS3 SlimSo you've finally decided to plunk down $299 on the new smaller, cheaper Sony PlayStation 3.  Welcome to the neighborhood, friend!  However, with several years worth of games already on store shelves, it can be a bit overwhelming to choose solid titles to play.  Allow Kombo to steer you in the proper direction with a list of essential PS3 games (both on Blu-ray disc and downloadable from the PlayStation Network) and important accessories.

It isn't rocket science to know that with the PS3 at the new price of $299 there are plenty of people rushing to stores to get the system for playing some games, watching Blu-ray movies or do both. Since the PS3 has a few years under its belt, there are plenty of peripherals and exclusive games that are not to be missed. Here is a rundown of the stuff you should pick up when you take the plunge and buy a PS3. By no means is this a comprehensive list of everything PS3, these are just the essentials.

The list features only PS3-exclusives, but just in case you're joining the PS3 club after only owning a Nintendo Wii this generation, here are some PS3 games you have to play that also appear on the Microsoft Xbox 360 and, in some cases, PC: Bionic Commando (and Bionic Commando Rearmed), Batman: Arkham Asylum, Burnout Paradise , Marvel vs Capcom 2, Street Fighter IV, The Godfather II, and Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty.  Once again, welcome!
