Sgt. Pepper's Empty Hearts Club Wallet
March 05, 2009
More details have been released about the new Rock Band installment that features The Beatles and their extensive musical catalog. Now you too can be Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and/or Ringo Starr in September when The Beatles: Rock Band launches for all three major consoles. I'd imagine that with The Beatles involved (or their respective estates in some cases) and Electronic Arts publishing the game, we can expect some overpriced bundle options, but surely the prices can't be too—
Available on 9/9/09:
* The Beatles: Rock Band Software - Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, Wii: $59.99 MSRP
* The Beatles: Rock Band Standalone Guitars - Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, Wii: $99.99 MSRP
* The Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition Premium Bundle: Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, Wii: $249.99 MSRP
$249.99?! I think we have a problem when a game costs as much as the console needed to play it. Even if I were a big fan of the band's music, I can't see myself paying that kind of money. If EA announced Rock Band: Billy Joel tomorrow with a bundle that included similarly overpriced controller replicas of the piano man's keyboards, that would still be too rich for my wallet. It's just too high of a price at a time when money is already tight. I'm sure someone out there (probably a few someones) will buy the big bundle though, so let's salute them for helping to stimulate the economy.
