I'm not sure how I missed the news that this game even exists, but The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is on the way for the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, and PC. The game is a reworked take on last generation's Riddick title, Escape From Butcher Bay. I missed out on that one, so I'm eager to try this reimagining when it reaches stores next month. Here's a snippet of the press kit announcing the upcoming release:
The developers even managed to bring Vin Diesel back to reprise the role of Riddick. I'm not much of a Diesel fan, but I do respect any actor that respects his or her fans enough to appear in the video game versions of films as their trademark characers. One of my co-worker friends used to rave about the Riddick character and his associated movies and games. Somehow I just never got around to seeing or playing any of them, and they've been on my to-do list for quite some time. X360 owners can give the free demo a try now on Xbox Live, but I and my PS3 bretheren must continue to wait for demo to hit the PlayStation Network sometime in the not-too-distant future.
