Mega Man's Missed Menu Opportunity

Last generation's Mega Man Anniversary Collection had its flaws, but recently it occurred to me just how much of an opportunity Capcom and developer Atomic Planet missed when creating the compilation. The game's main menu interface requires players to walk Mega Man down a series of hallways with each door representing a selectable game or option. Trudging through these halls has never felt right to me. It's so inefficient. Why bother with doors and hallways at all when Mega Man fans are used to something so much more familiar when it comes to selection menus?
