Kirby For 88 Keys

Mention game music remixes to someone and you'll most likely conjure up mental images of thrash metal hardcore electronic trance dance beat rock. There's nothing wrong with thrash metal hardcore electronic trance dance beat rock, mind you, but that genre can get a little stale after a while. Why not sample some genuinely remarkable piano solos instead? I direct you to Karl "Bladiator" Harmdierks and his recordings of familiar tunes given a piano twist from the worlds of Super Mario, Kirby, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, and Doom.
"Chopinesque Kirby" is my first remix with public acclaim. I've always enjoyed the themes presented in Kirby's Dream Land (Game Boy), and have since found that I have a really good handle on writing Romantic Period waltz remixes. The majority of ideas and entire layout for this piece were put together in an evening, and a live recording was urged on by none other than JigginJonT (OCRemix). It was recorded in the Braithewaite Recital Hall at UT Tyler on their 9-foot Steinway Grand.
There can never be enough gaming music arranged for piano as far as I'm concerned. If you're like me (and I know I am) then you'll probably want to try your piano-playing hands at performing some of Karl's arrangements. Luckily for us, he's made a few pieces of sheet music available in PDF format. Keep up the fantastic work, Karl. We're all looking forward to your next arrangement.
