Mother 3 Translators Activate Hurry-Up Machine

Mother 3Last week the Smash Bros. Dojo blog revealed the first concrete proof that elements from the Mother series (Earthbound to those of us in North America) will be in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Nintendo Wii.  The site showcased the Franklin Badge, a useful item in all three Mother games that is used to deflect lightning and other such attacks.  Great news, right?  Surely an announcement about Ness is imminent, right?  Well, unless of course the developers decide to showcase Mother 3 this time around.  You remember Mother 3, right?  It's the Earthbound sequel that has been out in Japan for over a year now, yet still isn't planned for a North American or European release.  It'd be a shame if Brawl spoiled any of the Mother 3 plot for those of us who are waiting on the unofficial translation that's in the works by a dedicated group of Earthbound fans.  What do you think, Mother 3 translation team?

There’s also a little bit more info we’ve caught wind of. Can’t reveal it here (and definitely wouldn’t want to…), but it basically equates to the fact that Smash Bros. Brawl is going to ABSOLUTELY, UNQUESTIONABLY spoil MOTHER 3 for EB fans who haven’t played the game yet.

Having stuff like this spoiled would suck so absolutely much. So a couple weeks back I decided to kick the project into double secret probation super duper mega mode, in the hopes of having a finished patch before Smash Bros. Brawl hits shelves on December 3rd or something like that. This would put it sometime in November, and ideally, it’d be nice to have a couple weeks for people to play through the game before SSBB comes out.

Now, the team doesn't cite a reputable source for their belief that the Mother 3 tidal wave is coming, so this may just be more smoke and gorilla dust.  On the other hand, if it is true and there are story-spoiling Mother 3 Brawl details on the way, then let's all hope that the translation team finishes their work in time.  I don't know about you, but I'm not prepared to put Brawl up on the shelf and wait around for the Mother 3 translation patch, spoilers be damned.
