First Look At New Earthbound Stirs The Soul
February 14, 2006
I think I've just had a minor religious experience. You may recall my deep connection with the Super NES RPG Earthbound, a game that I've been waiting patiently for a sequel. More accurately, I've been waiting ten years. After the first year or two the excitement starts to fade and other games come along, and eventually we come to take it for granted that there will always be another Super Mario or another The Legend of Zelda every two or three years or so.
Then one day out of the blue come the first screenshots of Mother 3 (Earthbound 2 for us North Americans) for the Game Boy Advance, and all those happy memories of the original game just come flooding back in a flash, and in a single moment I feel ready to step back into that crazy amazing world known as Eagleland as if I'd never left. I don't know what I have to do to convince Nintendo to translate and release this game in North America, but I'm willing to entertain suggestions.
