Mega Man Vs. Quick Man
December 07, 2005
I make it a point not to feature Flash animations based on video games here on PTB. There's just so many out there and most of them seem to rely on crude humor for the sake of crude humor. However, I've come across a particular animation that I found very impressive, and although judging by the date on the animation it's been around a while, but as they say, "If you haven't seen it, it's new to you."
There are far too many animations out there based on Mega Man and his many incarnations, but El Cid's Mega Man vs. Quick Man is unique. It uses what appears to be actual hand-drawn animation. No game sprite rips here. It depicts the epic battle between Mega Man and Quick Man in Mega Man 2 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and if you're like me you'll smile at the little references to the game that are interspersed in the animation. What especially drew me to this animation is that while watching it I felt like I was back in 1989 at the age of eight years old. Mega Man 2 was the first Mega Man game I ever played, and the battle against Quick Man was my personal gaming brick wall for months and months. I empathize with Mega Man in this animation as he goes down his list of weapons in search of one that will do a little damage. I know the feeling all too well.
