This is such a transparent attempt at boosting product popularity that I don't know where to start.  Sony held a fashion show in New York Saturday in which famous socialites and models showcased and displayed fashion accessories for the Sony PlayStation Portable.  Joystiq covered the event, a time for all the Beautiful People in our culture to parade around with a gadget that Sony must hope will become Beautiful by association.

Here’s who is expected: Gwen Stefani, Linsday Lohan, Paris Hilton, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Andy Roddick, Piper Perabo, Theodora and Alexandra Richards, Alek Wek, Kirsty Hume, Anouck Lepere, Jaquetta, NAS, Kelis, Jadakiss, and “More” (that would be the people not important enough to name in the tip sheet).

You hear that, kids?  The Beautiful People love the PSP, so if you buy a PSP maybe you can be Beautiful too!  What a shameless way to try a build a brand name.  Then again, so many people with disposable income follow the trends of high society that it just may work.  Sega never held a fashion show for their Game Gear portable and just look what happened to them.
