DS Online Dev Kits Coming Soon

DsSpong.com is reporting that the first development kits for the Nintendo DS's online functions will be sent out to developers prior to the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in May.  This was bound to happen sooner or later, but personally I'm glad to see that it's happening sooner.  Nintendo has been touting the DS's online capabilities since it was first introduced at last year's E3, but it was just this month that the company officially announced the first games to take advantage of Wi-Fi hotspots.   So far Animal Crossing DS is the title that most fans seem to be looking forward to and the potential for online DS games is very high.  With well-known online purveyor GameSpy handling the networking aspects and providing free connections, something tells me that interest in the DS is about to skyrocket.  Here's hoping for global online multiplayer Metroid someday.
