As our favorite video game characters have acquired speaking voices over the years, we've come to pay attention to the people who bring those characters to life with flair and personality. John Di Maggio of Gears of War and Futurama fame is working with Dundee Entertainment and Cinovative to create I Know That Voice in which the voices you know speak about their work in the television, film, and video game industries. Famous names involved that you may recognize include Kevin Conroy (Batman/Bruce Wayne, Batman: The Animated Series), Tara Strong (Harley Quinn, Batman: Arkham City), Nolan North (Nathan Drake, Uncharted), Rob Paulsen (Pinky, Pinky and The Brain), Maurice LaMarche (The Brain, Pinky and The Brain), and many more. Here's a descriptive blurb:
We have collected the top voice actors, voice directors, casting voice directors, video game producers, animators, creators, agents, producers, engineers, mixers, dialogue editors, voice teachers, voice school and all those involved in the booming voice-over industry. This is a must see documentary for anyone that wants to know what goes on behind the scenes in your favorite cartoons, animations, and anything to do with voice acting.
The first trailer for the documentary has hit YouTube and shows a generous peek at famous folks like Billy West showing us how Futurama's Dr. Zoidberg comes to life, legendary June Foray filling us in on Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Di Maggio himself describing a bit behind the process when it comes to voicing Marcus Fenix, and so much more. I Know That Voice is due out next year. No word on how it will be distributed, but I bet it'll be worth tracking down.
