Capcom's Mega Man 10 launched for Nintendo's WiiWare service yesterday in North America with release dates for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 coming later in the month, but the game's extra downloadable content won't be available until April. What's coming in that DLC, you ask? Nothing special... unless you're a long-time Mega Man fan. The game's third playable character, Bass, is up for sale as an add-on, as are three special stages that each apparently end with a different blast from the blue bomber's past along with their acquirable weapons. Digging through the game's data files has revealed some interesting information. Protodude's Rockman Corner has the details.
Undeniably, those are sprites of Ballade, Enker and Punk -- the "Mega Man Killers" of Game Boy Mega Man fame. What are they doing in Mega Man 10, you ask? Well, it was just revealed today that MM10 will have three downloadable special stages, each of which with their own respective bosses. The three killers do not appear within the main game of MM10, thus we can assume they are the bosses for these upcoming special stages.
You remember Enker, Punk, and Ballade, right? Coming from Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge, Mega Man III, and Mega Man IV respectively, they provided a bonus Robot Master battle with acquirable weapon in games consisting of previously seen material. Maybe these pieces of character artwork will help refresh your memory:
It's great to see these forgotten characters back for another battle (even if their data is already in the Mega Man 10 game file, and as such the DLC are just costly keys needed to unlock them). They're certainly a step up from Mega Man 9's extra Robot Master, Fake Man.
