Aiming to give Sony PlayStation 3 owners a bit more bang for their sixty bucks, Electronic Arts has announced that the PS3 version of the upcoming Dante's Inferno will be released only as a "Divine Edition" special version that includes on-disc goodies such as developer commentaries, a digital art book, the game's soundtrack, and the Longfellow English translation of Dante Alighieri's Inferno upon which the game is based. This is all included as part of the now-standard $59.95 retail price. Microsoft Xbox 360 Dante fans miss out on this one in what seems to be the 2010 version of the playable Joker option from Batman: Arkham Asylum that was only available in the PS3 version of the game. Kudos to EA for offering something extra for no additional cost even if only some of the audience benefits. Xbox 360 owners must feel terribly betrayed by this. Say, didn't someone once write about a special circle in Hell for the betrayers? Nah, I must be thinking of something else.
