The Team Ninja / Nintendo collaboration behind the recently announced Metroid: Other M shocked the most people during the grand E3 news cycle. I know that I certainly didn't see it coming, but of course now that I know it exists, I want to play it immediately. I hope that the finished product can stand up to the already overwhelming hype. There are so many ways that this game could turn sour, but then again a lot of people said the same thing about Metroid Prime and look how well that generally turned out.
Speaking of growing franchises, I spent a good chunk of my weekend exploring the new Big Surf Island add-on to Burnout Paradise. I paid $12.99 for the privilege of speeding through a new section of Paradise City complete with new cars to earn, new barriers to smash, new events to complete, and new Trophies to earn which, in the end, I feel is a fair price. In fact, Big Surf Island is the most expensive downloadable add-on content that I've ever purchased, but considering what I received for my money, I'm satisfied. On the other hand, some of the other DLC I've purchased has felt overpriced once I found out that, say, $10 doesn't go as far as it used to go. So, what about you? What is the most you will pay for downloadable add-on content? Be aware that I'm speaking of extra cars or game modes for existing disc-based games and not actual full downloadable titles. Big Surf Island counts, but the downloadable full version of Burnout Paradise from the Sony PlayStation Network does not.
