PS3 Backward Compatibility Not So Compatible

PS2 busts out While most gamers have probably taken for granted that the new Sony PlayStation 3 will play all those lovely PS2 games thanks to the miracles of backward compatibility, it would seem that somewhere around 200 titles from the PS2 library do not play as intended on the new wunderkonsole.  Specifically, we're talking about errors and glitches ranging from sound problems to complete lock-ups.  I suppose these kinds of things are to be expected with such a new console, and Sony does say that most of these problems will be fixed "later", a la Microsoft's solution for bringing original Xbox games to the Xbox 360.  So then, which games don't play quite right?  Let's go to the list.  Surely these are just rinky-dink obscure Japanese titles we're talking about, and major important popular games are not part of the prob-

Say what?  While I'm sure Sony would rather gamers focus on purchasing and playing new quality PS3 titles, with promises of being able to bring PS2 glory into the next generation I'd certainly hope that Sony fixes these issues sooner than later (or "later").  Yes, hardly anybody is buying a PS3 just to play PS2 games, but the idea that the $600 console can't do everything it claims on the box 100% could be off-putting to gamers still on the fence.  And while it's unfair to Sony to ask, I'll do so anyway: if the PS3 has trouble with this, what else can it not do quite right without a fix to come "later"?

A major issue also seems to be with 3rd Party controllers, such as the guitar for Guitar Hero:
