Editor’s Top Ten of 2005 At AMN
We're closing in on the end of 2005 which must mean it's time for the editors of the Advanced Media Network to choose their top ten games of the year. Over at AMN's Nintendo GameCube department we've made out picks, and after playing so many good (and bad) games this year it can be hard to narrow the list down to ten. Sometimes it can be hard to pad the list out to ten depending on the year's games, but luckily this year that wasn't an issue. Don't miss my picks for this year: ten games that are unsurprisingly Nintendo-centric, but still some of the best titles on which you can spend your time and money.

Not only Nitnendo-centric, but Mario-centric. Such a wide variety of games this year, eh?

Truth be told, it's been a lousy year for the GameCube outside of Nintendo's own properties. It's be expected somewhat with this generation of game consoles starting to wind down, but I still wish there'd have been a few third-parties titles worth playing. Resident Evil 4 is great, sure, but that seems to be the only third-party GCN title people still rave about from this year.
On the other hand, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the heavy rotation of Mario titles. However, I'd also be lying if I said I didn't want a little variety mixed in there.

I know it's multi-platform, but the Prince of Persia games, I think, have been well-done and worth playing. Two Thrones just didn't grab you, huh? Ubisoft did a fabulous job with Sands of Time, I'm enjoying Warrior Within, and if the reviews I've read are correct, Two Thrones is a mixture of the two.
And I know it's also first-party, but I had a great time with the Mario-free Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.

Jungle Beat was good fun, but I haven't been back to it. Probably because all the constant drumming bruised my hands after a while.

I know its a 2004 game but Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door was a great game, the most fun I've had playing a game in a long time. Recommended for RPG fans, of both the hardcore and the non-hardcore variety.
Also, Mario Super Strikers (soccer) is uncomplicated but fun especially multiplayer :) Probably will get bored of it eventually though, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of depth.
